Welcome
Welcome to the In Bruges Fansite! I've been keeping up the In Bruges Blog for a good two months now and decided it was time for a website. Here you can find everything I've posted on the blog archived (easier to look up), basic information about the film, useful links and you can be listed as a fan.
Support
If you liked the film, if you loved the film, if you're looking foreward to the film, if you think Martin McDonagh is a genius, if you're a big fan of Brendan Gleeson, if you adore Ralph Fiennes, if you're crazy about Colin Farrell, if you want to show support; join the f*cking fanlisting. Focus Features and other distributors are aware of this fansite, so every name makes a statement!
The Blog
Our location on Vox is inbrugesblog.vox.com - easy as pie. The blog is updated as completely as possible, as often as possible. The blog is connected to Colin Farrell Fansite and Ralph Fiennes Corner. Connecting the fans, one might say. Galleries and clips can be found most completely collected on the blog itself.

frequently asked questions
Are you in any way affiliated with Focus Features?
I've been asked that question a couple of times and to this day it is a mystery to me what people want to hear when they ask this. I do not work for Focus Features. I'm a fan, doing this for other fans.
Have you met Colin Farrell / Ralph Fiennes / Brendan Gleeson /Martin McDonagh?
I've met Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson, on the set of In Bruges. Both very briefly and in different contexts. I met Colin briefly twice, when he was kind enough to make time for a chat with a fan and a picture. He's a great, generous guy. I will not stand a bad word about him. I met Brendan Gleeson because I was on set and he looked bored, and I had no idea who he was so I waved at him and he came over. Very briefly. I've seen Martin McDonagh and Ralph Fiennes on set, too, but I wasn't really focused on them so I don't even recall it properly.
Can you tell me something about the release of a film other than "In Bruges"?
I was also pretty surprised by this question, but no matter! If it is a film with Colin Farrell, Ralph Fiennes or Brendan Gleeson you have a question about, there is a chance I can answer your question - I'll dig some for you. But unfortunately I am not an oracle, and In Bruges is my main focus.
Can you tell me where I can see plays written by Martin McDonagh?
No, I really can't. I'm not an oracle for the theater, either. You will have to try and google it. I've only been to the theater once, Macbeth in Startford-upon-Avon, and my friend had migraines all through it so I didn't really see much of it. That's how informed I am about the stage world.
Why won't they widen the US release?
I haven't heard any official explanation for it, and I don't think I ever will. The film industry seems to be all about closed doors. My best guess is that the writer's strike has influenced the industry and its income to such an extent, that the production companies are now trying to make more money off of the big budget and hit productions rather than the smaller and more arthouse productions. In Bruges, unfortunately, comes second to films like Atonement and 10,000 BC.
I'm in Europe/Australia/South America, when will the film be released here if ever?
I'm updating the site with release dates for every country known to have one. It looks like In Bruges won't see a release in South America or Australia, I am very sorry to tell you! As for Europe; your dates may be set, but don't get your hopes up too high. The UK release date finally seemed set on 4 April and just now it's moved to 18 April. Your best chance of knowing for sure and making a statement is calling the distributor for your country or Focus Features in London.
Can you download the torrent?
That is a useless question in so many ways. If the world of torrents is anything like my flatmate claims it to be - I'm sure it's out there. Will I help you find it? Hell no. Do I look like someone who wants the film to miss out on profits? If you are in a country where the film won't be released - wait until the DVD comes out and I'm sure you can find a way, perhaps with my help. Legally.
Will there be any more events/premieres?
Well, nobody seems to know! Not even Focus Features themselves. I had plans to cover the Belgian and UK premieres for this site... but with the crappy way they've been handling release dates I've given up. I'll just wait until June like a good sucker. If you live near a place where the film has a chance of a red carpet, do go and do tell us how it was.
OMG OMG OMG WILL COLLIN FEREL MARRY MEEE?
No.
I have a (non In Bruges related) fan encounter story, can I send it to you?
You absolutely can. You must let us feed off your luck. The same goes for sightings. If you have written a review of In Bruges, you are free to send it in as well and it will be up on the website. Long or short, anonymous or not. Whatever you like.
You have a picture up that is from my website / can I use a picture from your website?
If I have used your material without permission I am sorry, I tried to watch myself while copying and pasting. If you want me to add your name to the image and link you in the link section let me know, if you want me to take it down that's fine, too. Just remember this website is in no way competitive; it is non-profit and it cooperates with other fansites rather than competes with them because it is the only In Bruges fansite around.
If you want to take images from this site, send me a message. I won't shoot you for just doing it, but it might actually be useful to let me know. You might not be fanlisted yet or you might have a blog post or site we can link to.
Why are there very few updates lately?
Basically I've been busy with university but also I was reporting waves on a silent sea so it became useless. The most important reviews have been posted and the best info is up, too. There are no more screencaps or promotional photos being released, this is it. Since the UK release was a very quiet one, there was very little to report. The same goes for other European premieres. Only Ireland got decent promotion.
By the time the DVD comes out I will happily review it here, as I will be in the States at that time so I will get it before the European fans. | |||
